#GSS Feb 24: 💗+💋
Feb 02, 2024The pink and red (or both!!) challenge
It’s February, signs of spring are starting to appear, there has been a little more sunshine here in Cornwall and a slight increase in temperatures. Here at Start to Stitch HQ we’re putting the winter storms behind us, feeling re-energised and are ready to embrace more colour into our lives! So what could be a better way to do this than with a colourful #getsetsew challenge.
Why pink or red? These colours are bursting with personality. For too long pink has been associated with femininity but it doesn't have to be that way, we’re all for some colour rebellion here. After all, pink comes in so many different shades and looks amazing on everyone. Red can indicate danger, but also radiates love, boldness, confidence, and fiery passion. Both shades have the power to transform a space, elevate an outfit, and inject a dose of cheer into your day.
February is all about letting these vibrant colours sing in your stitching projects. Are you ready to inject some vibrant energy into your sewing routine? Then let's do this with the pink and red challenge and dive headfirst into the world of these bold hues.
The #gssfebruary challenge is to create something fabulous using pink and / or red fabric /yarn / embroidery thread, in fact anything you want related to stitching.
Sew... what will you be making? It can be anything you wish – a garment that makes a statement, a home decor project that pops, or even a quirky accessory that adds a touch of playful pizzazz to your outfit. Think Valentine's Day or ‘Gal’entines or ‘Pal’entines to show a loved one or friend just how much they mean to you.
What will inspire you?
-
Think Valentine's Day or ‘Gal’entines or ‘Pal’entines to show a loved one or friend just how much they mean to you.
-
Think of cherry blossoms in bloom depicted in embroidery or applique as an embellishment , or a fierce sunset casting its glow in applique and patchwork or knitting and crochet.
-
Why not incorporate both pink and red in your project for an eye-catching contrast or a harmonious blend. Use one colour as the main statement and the other for accents, or play with patterns and prints for a truly dynamic look.
-
Sew something for yourself: A headband, a scarf, a dress, a shirt, a cosy pair of pyjamas – let your personality shine through in pink and red fabrics.
-
Make a gift for someone special: A heart-shaped cushion, a zipped pouch, a personalised tote bag – show your love with a thoughtful handmade creation.
-
Embrace the theme: Go for a retro vibe, create a bold geometric masterpiece, or channel your inner flower child with floral prints
-
Think sustainability: Upcycle an old garment,
-
Maybe try a new technique, or challenge yourself with a complex pattern – push your boundaries and see what you can achieve.
